Meet Laura
Laura Kofoid considers herself to be the luckiest, unlucky person in the world. She and her dear husband of 32 years and two usually-lovely, almost-grown children have together traveled to 7 continents. As co-founder, CEO of Laudi Vidni custom leather goods, she has revolutionized the tired handbag industry. She helped found the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute to find a cure for brain tumors and is a tireless advocate for social justice as a board member of the ACLU-Illinois and for the election of women through Emily’s List. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School and prior to Laudi Vidni, had a blast in her dream career as a retail buyer.
But in 2000, Laura lost her innocent belief in a certain future when her husband was diagnosed with the first of two brain tumors. The cold realization that her husband might die at a young age emboldened both of them to deeply examine their lives, priorities, and relationships to make the most of whatever time they had, their “deliberate life.” In 2013, Laura was forced to see her own mortality, when over the course of just two weeks, she was diagnosed with thyroid and breast cancers, and in 2017 when her best friend and Laudi Vidni co-founder died of stomach cancer. Haltingly, painfully, inelegantly, she emerged from the grayness of those days to eventually recommit herself to her deliberate life and “dance in between raindrops.” Laura is fearless (about everything but health), joyful, passionate, stubborn, and resolute about once again (post COVID) being the last one to leave every single party.
