Leading by Wellness: Be the CEO of Your Health
Ashvini Mashru, Wellness Nutrition Concepts, LLC
Wellness works better when Leaders walk the talk. There is no better prescription for inspiring wellness than leading by example. If leaders in businesses and corporations truly want their employees to embrace wellness initiatives, the more they are involved leading that change, the better acceptance, participation and results.
There is one invariable truth- a company is only as healthy as its employees. Yet organizations are struggling to communicate how employee health impacts bottom line costs and work force productivity. While many businesses have implemented internal wellness initiatives, these small changes are not impacting the overall health of their workforce.
To influence a true culture of wellness in a business, leaders must educate employees on rising health care costs and how a balanced lifestyle can contribute to the success of the company.
When executives and leaders take accountability for their personal health, they are igniting a spark to initiate positive change within the business or corporation. A “well” leader is better equipped to handle rigorous demands placed upon him or her. This shows that leaders hold the key to set the example and accept the responsibility to model healthy behaviors and wellness in the workplace.
